Arlene Blum, the Berkeley-based biophysical chemist, mountaineer, author, mother, recently winner of a $100,000 Purpose Prize and founder of a new green science policy institute. Arlene is one of the most inspiring people in the world -- you'll feel better about being alive after hearing her -- and it's going to be a rarity to be able to hear her talk, so do come.

November 21, from noon-1:30pm: Paula Harvan Rosdol

Our featured speaker is Paula Harvan Rosdol, a former high tech marketing consultant who at age 47 found her true loves -- a husband and a knack for buying and renovating old cottages in tourist destinations, such as the South of France and St. Helena, California.

She'll show us slides of her fantasy-come-true wedding ceremony in an ancient French town, where one of her properties is located (www.charmingfrenchcottage.com), and where the entire village was invited to celebrate along with the couple. Paula met her husband, a Brit who owns a company that leases private jets, through a Craigslist connection made in Europe. After dessert, she'll us how she entirely changed her workaholic life to a lifestyle that opened her heart and mind to the natural riches of this world and its peoples.
